Colts preparing for DeMarco Murray to play Sunday

INDIANAPOLIS -- While the Dallas Cowboys are still determining if running back DeMarco Murray will play Sunday, the Indianapolis Colts are working under the impression that the NFL's leading rusher will be on the field.

"They've got too much to play for still," Colts safety Mike Adams said. "They're fighting for a playoff spot in the NFC."

If Murray does play, he'll do so with a plate and eight screws in his left hand. He had surgery on his hand earlier this week.

The Cowboys are trying to hold off the Philadelphia Eagles for first place in the NFC East. Murray, who leads the league with 1,687 yards, did some work Wednesday with a hard plastic shell on top of his glove.

"Really what we want to do is just see how he responded to that work that he did [Wednesday] and then see how he is as the week progresses, and hopefully he can be functional for the ballgame," Cowboys coach Jason Garrett said. "If he can't be, we won't allow him to play, and if he can, we'll give him a chance."

Joseph Randle and Lance Dunbar will handle the workload in the backfield if Murray doesn't play.

"[Murray's] not the only good back they have over there; they have two other guys that run just as hard," Colts defensive lineman Art Jones said. "It's something they take pride in, their offensive line. We'll be ready to go. I don't want to give away too many secrets that we've got planned, but we'll be ready to go, they'll be ready to go and the best team's going to win that day."
