Colts get first victory since January

JACKSONVILLE -- Observations from the Indianapolis Colts' locker room after their 44-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars at EverBank Field.

  • It was only the winless Jaguars, but the Colts badly needed a victory. They hadn't experienced a win since quarterback Andrew Luck led them from 28 points down in the third quarter against the Kansas City Chiefs in the playoffs back in January. "We just wanted a win, period," receiver Reggie Wayne said. "Dug ourselves a little hole -- in my opinion, we're still in little hole, still below .500 -- but we just wanted to get that win. We needed to come out here and not win close -- go out there and win convincingly. We were able to do that."

  • Luck didn't take it personally that tight end Coby Fleener dropped what should have been a touchdown catch in the end zone in the second quarter. The Colts ended up having to settle for a field goal because Luck was sacked on the next play. "As a quarterback, I've missed so many open guys, I have no right to yell or scream at someone for dropping the ball," Luck said. "Coby goes 100 percent [and] works his butt off. I came back to him later, and he did score a touchdown. He responded." Fleener finished with four catches for 49 yards and a touchdown.

  • Coach Chuck Pagano said he doesn't think the ankle and hamstring injuries to receiver T.Y. Hilton and linebacker Andy Studebaker, respectively, are severe. Hilton finished with five catches for 80 yards before he suffered the injury in the second quarter.
