Rapid Reaction: Indianapolis Colts

JACKSONVILLE -- A few thoughts on the Indianapolis Colts' 44-17 victory over the Jacksonville Jaguars:

What it means: The Jaguars came along at a perfect time for the Colts. Offensive mistakes cost the Colts in the first two weeks of the season, and pressuring the quarterback was foreign for the defense. Problems solved. Quarterback Andrew Luck kept the Jaguars off-balance by mixing up the running game with Ahmad Bradshaw and Trent Richardson and play-action passes. The Colts scored on their first six possessions, including three drives of at least 73 yards, and gained more than 500 yards of total offense. The defense, which had only one sack in the first two games, finally found a way to get to the quarterback. Defensive coordinator Greg Manusky put together a defensive scheme that included a lot of blitzes. The Colts sacked Jaguars quarterbacks Chad Henne and Blake Bortles four times and picked them off twice.

Stock Watch: Tight end Coby Fleener had four catches for 49 yards and a touchdown, but it took only one play for his stock to drop. Luck threw a perfect pass to a wide-open Fleener in the end zone, but the ball went through his hands. To make matters worse, Luck was sacked on the next play, forcing the Colts to settle for a field goal.

Hilton leaves the game: Receiver T.Y. Hilton's afternoon ended early because of an ankle injury, which happened in the first half when he caught a pass from Luck across the middle of the field deep in Jacksonville territory. Hilton finished with five catches for 80 yards. Linebacker Andy Studebaker also left the game early with a hamstring injury.

Davis bounces back: Colts cornerback Vontae Davis was called for illegal contact twice, including one that took a safety away late in the third quarter. But Davis redeemed himself when he intercepted Bortles along the sideline in front of the Colts’ bench early in the fourth quarter.

Game ball: Luck was 31-of-39 for 370 yards and four touchdowns, tying his single-game career high. Luck completed passes to nine different receivers.

What’s next: The Colts (1-2) return home for another AFC South game against the Tennessee Titans (1-2) at Lucas Oil Stadium.
