RTC: No chance to beat the Broncos?

Here’s your Labor Day Reading the Coverage:

  • Woody Paige of the Denver Post believes the Broncos won’t only beat the Colts, they’ll thoroughly embarrass them. “The Broncos, who set their 53-man roster momentarily Saturday, are favored by a touchdown over the Colts, which is ludicrous,” Paige wrote. “The Colts have no chance of staying within seven points, or 17. Guaranteed.”

  • Stephen Holder of the Indy Star writes about how linebacker Robert Mathis won’t be on the field harassing former teammate Peyton Manning when the Colts take on the Denver Broncos this weekend. Mathis is suspended for the first four games for violating the NFL’s drug abuse policy.

  • Mike Chappell of the Indy Star caught up with new Colts center A.Q. Shipley. The Colts claimed Shipley off waivers from the Baltimore Ravens on Sunday. “I'm hoping to get in there early (Monday) and get to work on the playbook and put myself in position that if (starting) is what they need me to do and want me to do, I'll be ready," Shipley said.

  • Kevin Bowen of Colts.com has a note where the Colts have the sixth best fans in the NFL, according to Forbes magazine.

  • Reggie Hayes of the Ft. Wayne News Sentinel caught up with quarterback Chandler Harnish, whose two-year run with the Colts came to an end when the team waived him and didn’t sign him to the practice squad. "I talked to (general manager Ryan) Grigson this morning and he just said they're going in a different direction," Harnish said in a phone interview. "They didn't tell me a whole lot. They left it pretty vague. I got the feeling yesterday when they waived me that they were not going to put me back on the practice squad," he said. "It wasn't like years past where they said they would get me back on the practice squad the next day. So it was not a shock to me today that they didn't sign me back."
