Next Up: Denver Broncos

A quick look at the Indianapolis Colts' Week 1 opponent.

Team: Denver Broncos

2013 Record: 13-3, lost to Seattle in Super Bowl

Returning 2013 statistical leaders:

Passing: Peyton Manning 450-of-659, 5,477 yards, 55 TD

Rushing: Montee Ball 559 yards, 4 TD

Receiving: Demaryius Thomas 92 receptions, 1,430 yards, 14 TD

Key additions: Wide receiver Emmanuel Sanders, cornerback Aqib Talib, safety T.J. Ward, defensive end DeMarcus Ware

Last meeting: Colts 39, Broncos 33 (2013)

Outside linebacker Robert Mathis’ strip sack of Manning led to a safety and was a momentum changer for the Colts. That was the start of a stretch of 23 straight points for Indianapolis. Manning finished with 386 yards. That was also the last game of Reggie Wayne's 2013 season, as he tore his ACL trying to catch a pass from quarterback Andrew Luck.

Of note: Some are predicting that the Broncos will return to the Super Bowl for the second straight year. The road to winning 13 games for the third consecutive season won’t be easy for them. Denver has to face teams from the NFC West, the toughest division in the NFL, and also travel to New England to play the Patriots this season.
