Wayne and other starters cleared to practice

ANDERSON, Ind. -- The Indianapolis Colts were a depleted offensive team in 2013, losing five offensive starters by Week 7.

Fast forward nine months and the Colts will have all five of those players available when they take the field at Anderson (Ind.) University for their first training camp practice Thursday morning.

Tight end Dwayne Allen (hip), guard Donald Thomas (quad and bicep), running back Ahmad Bradshaw (neck), running Vick Ballard (knee) and receiver Reggie Wayne (knee) have all been cleared to practice.

That’s a step in the right direction for a team that couldn’t catch a break with injuries last season. Some of those players, especially Wayne, will likely be held out of some of practice.

Ballard and Bradshaw are competing with Trent Richardson for the starting running back position. Thomas is competing with rookie Jack Mewhort and veteran Lance Louis at guard.
