Mailbag Part II: Do the Colts a have better chance against Patriots or Steelers?

Mike Wells: I will continue to give the Patriots the edge over the Indianapolis Colts until Indianapolis proves it can be competitive against them. New England has won the last four meetings by an average of 29 points. Now do you see I why I continue to favor the Patriots despite them losing cornerbacks Brandon Browner and Darrelle Revis and defensive tackle Vince Wilfork? Next season will be the best opportunity for quarterback Andrew Luck to get his first victory over the Patriots because of what the Colts have added to their roster -- Andre Johnson and Frank Gore -- and what New England lost on its roster. The game in Pittsburgh will be tough, too. Quarterback Ben Roethlisberger threw for 522 yards against the Colts in last season's meeting in Pittsburgh. Wells: As I mentioned in Part I of the mailbag Saturday, they'll likely have to trade up in order to get Alabama safety Landon Collins. There's a possibility Collins would start with Mike Adams at safety in Week 1 if the Colts were able to get him. GM Ryan Grigson spoke very highly about Collins during his media session last week. "A guy like Landon, he can do it all," Grigson said. "There's only so many of those guys in the draft. There's really not many." Wells: Luck actually talked about that recently. He said he wants to work on cutting down his turnovers. He had 16 interceptions and lost six fumbles last season. His 19 turnovers were second to only Chicago's Jay Cutler.  "That's sort of a no brainer," Luck said. "I would love to get that touchdown to interception ratio very good in the touchdown sense. Then work on red zone and third-down stuff. Got to be better in those areas if we want to be an elite offense in the NFL. We've got to be top-five in the red zone and third down, so work on those." Wells: It's going to be tough. Erik Swoope might have to spend another season on the practice squad because he has Dwayne Allen, Coby Fleener and Jack Doyle in front of him on the roster. I'd be surprised if Swoope beats out Doyle because you have to remember he's only headed into his second season of playing football at any level.
