Here's a breakdown of the Colts' 53-man roster by position: Quarterbacks (2): Andrew Luck, Matt Hasselbeck Quick take: The Colts are comfortable with having only two quarterbacks on the roster. Luck has shown durability during his first two seasons, and Hasselbeck is a proven veteran. Running Backs (4): Ahmad Bradshaw, Trent Richardson, Dan Herron, Zurlon Tipton Quick take: It wouldn’t be surprising if Tipton ends up getting released to make room for an offensive lineman once players start clearing waivers. Fullbacks (1): Mario Harvey Quick take: Harvey ma just be keeping this spot warm until Stanley Havili gets off the physically unable to perform list. Wide Receivers (6): T.Y. Hilton, Reggie Wayne, Hakeem Nicks, Donte Moncrief, Griff Whalen, Da'Rick Rogers Quick take: Rogers’ immature act of punting the ball into the stands against Cincinnati didn’t cost him a roster spot. He provides insurance if the Colts lose a receiver because of injury. Tight Ends (3): Dwayne Allen, Coby Fleener, Jack Doyle Quick take: This was an easy decision for the front office and coaching staff. Offensive Line (10): Thomas Austin, Anthony Castonzo, Gosder Cherilus, Jonotthan Harrison, Khaled Holmes, Lance Louis, Jack Mewhort, Xavier Nixon, Joe Reitz, Hugh Thornton Quick take: No real surprises here. Only real issue is health concerns. Defensive Line (7): Josh Chapman, Arthur Jones, Cory Redding, Ricky Jean Francois, Zach Kerr, Montori Hughes, Jonathan Newsome Quick take: Like with the offensive line, no surprises here. Kerr, the undrafted player out of Delaware, sacked and danced his way onto the roster. The coaching staff has high expectations for them. Robert Mathis will be added to the roster once his four-game suspension is complete. Cornerbacks (5): Greg Toler, Vontae Davis, Darius Butler, Josh Gordy, Loucheiz Purifoy Quick take: Purifoy can return punts, too. Safeties (4): Colt Anderson, Mike Adams, Sergio Brown, LaRon Landry Quick take: Delano Howell’s neck injury hurts the depth at this position. Landry has to stay healthy.
