RTC: Texans-Eagles will have intrasquad feeling

Reading the coverage of the Houston Texans ...

When the seven former Texans return to Houston on Sunday, they'll lend an intrasquad feeling to the game, writes John McClain of the Houston Chronicle. McClain addresses some of the history of how each of those players wound up with the Eagles after playing for the Texans.

To some people in Houston, 'the general ' is a certain Texans reporter. To others, it's Ryan Fitzpatrick, writes Jim Corbett of USA Today. An excerpt from the story:

"He's 'The General' rocking that Civil War general's beard," Pickett told USA TODAY Sports. "He's a great leader."

Fitzpatrick is playing for his fifth team in 10 NFL seasons and trying to blend his style with that of first-year Texans coach Bill O'Brien. Houston currently sits at 4-4, and Fitzpatrick is challenging himself to improve.

"I expect a lot better second half from myself," he said Wednesday. "This being a new system, everybody's first year in it, we should really see some improvement here the second half just because of the comfort level."

MDC of Battle Red Blog is not pleased the Texans signed Zac Diles and waived Elbert Mack.

The Eagles' fast-paced offense will be a big challenge for the Texans, writes James Stark of KPRC. "We weigh a little bit more so I would say it has a little bit more of a toll on us," said defensive end J.J. Watt of the defensive line.

Texans defensive end Tim Jamison has been with the team for six years writes Patrick D. Starr of StateoftheTexans.com. He's been willing to take an unselfish role during that time. “I am not a guy that is into all the glory," Jamison said. "I just want to do whatever it takes to help my team win. Whatever the coach needs me to do I am going to do it.”
