Houston Rockets star guard James Harden will participate in next month’s USA Basketball’s non-contact minicamp, according to a source.

Harden will join a list of star NBA players that includes Blake Griffin and Carmelo Anthony. Harden, who finished second in the league in scoring (27.4) and led the NBA in minutes played (2,981), was a key player in last summer’s World Cup team.

Harden said he learned about expanding his role as a leader and developing more skills from his experience with Team USA.

USA Basketball managing director Jerry Colangelo told ESPN last month the minicamp would serve as a "reunion" for former Team USA players but also stressed that attendance was mandatory for those interested in securing a spot for next summer's Olympic roster.

Colangelo told ESPN that the minicamp would include two days of noncontact workouts and "an all-star game of sorts" on Aug. 13 that will feature the various marquee players in attendance who are healthy enough to play.

The minicamp is Aug. 11-15 in Las Vegas.
