The Cal-bound Monarchs star pitched a mercy-shortened no-hitter for her 12th shutout this year in a 10-0 CIFCCS D2 quarterfinal victory over WCAL rival Presentation.
Krystal Aubert (Casa Roble, Orangevale)
In a Sac-Joaquin Section Division II losers bracket game against Christian Brothers, she doubled and homered while driving in five runs as the Rams stayed alive with a 7-4 victory. Gina Barnacle (Petaluma)
Barnacle certainly wasn’t clinging to any rocks in a mercy-shortened NCS D2 rout of San Lorenzo. She was 4-for-4 with three doubles and four runs driven in. Lauren Brown & Jessica Marin (Moreau Catholic, Hayward)
Brown went downtown for a grand slam and Marin followed her with a three-run blast in a pasting of Lower Lake in the NCS D4 playoffs. Tori Castaneda (Laton)
It was a quiet week for stat stars in the Central Section, but one that caught historian Bob Barnett’s eye came in from Castaneda. In a 22-2 win over Avenal in a D6 playoff game, she went 2-for-3 at the plate, scored twice and knocked in five. Stephanie Ceo (Bear River, Grass Valley)
Leading the way to the Sac-Joaquin Section Division III championship, she hit a solo home run and a grand slam home run as the Bruins defeated Whitney 9-3. Longtime coach Duane Zauner (a former Cal-Hi Sports State Coach of the Year) will retire after leading the Bruins to five section titles in the last six years. Jenna Curtan & Christal Vierra (Woodcreek, Roseville)
Not ready for the curtain to close on the season, Curtan hit a two-out two-run single to tie the game before a single by Vierra gave the Timberwolves a 3-2 win over Del Campo for the Sac-Joaquin Section Division II championship. Lindsay Davis (Foothill, Palo Cedro)
She dominated in the circle in the Cougars’ 1-0 win over Paradise as she struck out 16 and allowed just two hits in 10 innings. Nicole Erichsen & Karen Chaw

These two led their team in a 6-4 victory against Arroyo of San Leandro that enabled the Trojans to win the Hayward Area Athletic League crown. Erichsen had three hits and four RBIs while Chaw hit a two-run homer. The Trojans avenged a 6-5 loss to Arroyo suffered last month. Emily Gibson (Washington, Fremont)
The senior P/1B/RF closed out her senior season with an unheard of league-leading .568 batting average, 19 RBIs and an .892 slugging percentage. As a pitcher, Gibson’s ERA was 1.96. In her last game of the season, she went 3-for-3 with two doubles. Emily will play at San Francisco State next year. Johanna Grauer (Amador Valley, Pleasanton)
By the time this sophomore is done, she could make several dozen more appearances in this feature. Last week she fanned 13 in a two-hitter and 16 in a one-hitter of respective 9-0 and 13-0 wins over Livermore and Pleasanton Foothill. She now has nine straight shutouts and 19 on the season. She hit a two-run home run and struck out 14 as the Cubs captured their second straight Northern Section championship. Finishing the season with 440 strikeouts, she also struck out 16 and didn't allow a hit in Anderson’s 2-0 semifinal win over Lassen. Hawkins had more than 500 strikeouts as a junior and will no doubt make the state record book for career strikeouts. She heads next to the University of Oregon. Sara Higa (Mission Viejo)
The Diablos put on a long-ball show in their 18-1 win over West Covina and she led the way with two home runs. Brittany Hitchcock (Ocean View, Huntington Beach)
This Hawaii-bound standout had three runs batted in while allowing just three hits in the circle while striking out six as the Seahawks defeated Northview of Covina in CIFSS Division IV play by a 7-0 final score. Katy Kibbe (Rancho Cotate, Rohnert Park)
She hit her ninth home run this season but her team lost 3-2 to Petaluma in a non-league contest that came after league play concluded and was rescheduled from the early in the season. The University of La Verne slugging pitcher came back to fire a two-hitter with 11 fanned in a NCS D2 1-0 victory over Dublin. Nicole Miranda (Port of Los Angeles, San Pedro)
In a 9-0 triumph against Vaughn of San Fernando that gave the Polar Bears their second straight trip to the CIF L.A. City Section small schools title game, Miranda spun a one-hitter and struck out 10. At the plate, she also went 2-for-4 with a triple and an RBI. Rachel Naslund (Torrey Pines, San Diego)
Allowing just two hits, she struck out 13 as the Falcons defeated Grossmont 2-0 in the first-round of San Diego Section Division I playoffs. Kylee Perez (Alhambra, Martinez)
The sophomore whiz kid hit her 14th home run of the season and 10th in the last nine games in a 6-3 NCS D2 win over Petaluma Casa Grande. Alex Pingree (Santa Catalina, Monterey)
The daughter of coach Jim Pingree and a girl headed to UC Santa Barbara, Pingree tossed her 17th shutout of the season with a four-hitter, and ripped a two-run single, in a 10-0 CCS Division III semifinal win over perennial power Notre Dame of Salinas. It was Santa Catalina’s first win ever against the 12-time CCS D3 champions and sends the team into the title game on Saturday for the second straight year. Lisa Rodriguez (Heritage, Brentwood)
The New Mexico-bound star pitched her team into the Cal-Hi Sports rankings with her ninth straight shutout on a three-hitter with 12 strikeouts in an 11-0 victory over Deer Valley. It was her 14th overall shutout and 10th against league rivals. Lauren Sanders (Oakdale)
During the Mustangs run to the Sac-Joaquin Division IV championship, she drove in six runs during a 10-0 win over Central Catholic of Modesto. Shelley Suhling (Campolindo, Moraga)
The Cougars junior was an error away from a perfect game against arch-rival Orinda Miramonte, but she still pitched a no-hitter with 13 strikeouts in a 6-0 victory. Darian Tautalafua (Carson)
She homered and drove in four in a 19-0 win over Marshall and then homered and drove in five runs as the Colts defeated Chatsworth 11-4. With the against Chatsworth. Tautalafua has tied the state record for career home runs with 53. She narrowly missed getting the record home run on Tuesday, but she will have a chance to break the state record next Wednesday at UCLA in the L.A. City Section championship game against El Camino Real. Jade Vecvanags (Lutheran, Orange)
Not only did she allow just two hits and strike out 12 while in the circle but she also hit a solo home run as the Lancers defeated Roosevelt of Eastvale 5-1 in the CIFSS D1 playoffs. Madison Williams (Freedom, Oakley)
The junior pitcher and baby sister of 2006 Ms. Softball State Player of the Year and current Falcons assistant coach Amanda Williams tossed a two-hitter with 14 strikeouts in a 5-0 win over Pittsburg.
