GREEN BAY, Wis. -- Just when Green Bay Packers center Evan Dietrich-Smith had gotten over his second knee injury in a month, he had another issue in practice on Wednesday.
He sprained his ankle late in the session during an 11-on-11 period, leaving his status in question for Sunday’s game against the Atlanta Falcons at Lambeau Field.
“I was feeling really good up until I rolled my ankle,” Dietrich-Smith said. “So I’m just trying to do as much as I can to make sure I can get ready for Sunday.”
Dietrich-Smith sprained his right knee in last Thursday’s game against the Lions and could not finish the game. That was the same knee he sprained three weeks earlier against the Philadelphia Eagles.
After Wednesday’s practice, Dietrich-Smith was clearly frustrated by his run of recent luck.
“Yeah, it’s fun, huh?” he said. “I love this sport. Good thing we get paid money. I remember when I used to play this for free.”
Against both the Eagles and Lions, right guard T.J. Lang moved over to center after Dietrich-Smith got hurt.
