ALLEN PARK, Mich. -- Joe Lombardi had to figure these questions would come. With his last name, his lineage and the Detroit Lions' opponent this week, there was approximately zero way they would not.
Yes, Lombardi is the grandson of Vince Lombardi, as in the legendary former Packers coach Vince Lombardi. And while Joe Lombardi has faced Green Bay before, he has never called plays against the team his grandfather is synonymous with.
And Lombardi, for now, says he hasn't really thought about it.
"You get so caught up in the details of what you're doing that the big picture things don't really enter into your mind," Joe Lombardi said. "Even when we won the Super Bowl, I didn't really even think about it until after the game and they started handing around the trophy and they were like, 'Hey, Joe,' and I was like, 'Oh yeah, I forgot about that.'
"You're so focused in on what you're doing."
Even when Lombardi went up to Green Bay in the past as a coach, it didn't really hit him. He said he's more aware of it during his past, when he would go to Lambeau Field as a fan instead of as employee of another team trying to beat his grandfather's old bunch.
And now, a look around the Interwebs for Lions news:
