Victor Ortiz planning November return

Former welterweight titlist Victor Ortiz, who has been knocked out in his past three fights, plans to return to the ring.

Ortiz (29-5-2, 22 KOs), 27, of Oxnard, California, wrote Thursday on his Instagram page that he will be back in the ring before the end of the year.

He wrote, "Heads up, I'm back in the ring on first week of November! I'm stoked about it! Thought it would be late October but apparently as of today Coach Joel Diaz stated to me first week of November ... thank you for the support!!!"

Since outpointing Andre Berto to win a world title in April 2011 in a fight of the year candidate, Ortiz is winless. Floyd Mayweather knocked him out in the fourth round of his first defense later in 2011. In 2012, he suffered a massive upset -- a ninth-round knockout loss to Josesito Lopez, who badly broke his jaw. Ortiz, recovering from jaw surgery, didn’t fight again until January, when he got knocked out in the second round by former titlist Luis Collazo.

He has spent much of his time away from the ring partaking in other activities. For example, he was a contestant on "Dancing with the Stars" and is one of the stars of the film "The Expendables 3."

Whom Ortiz will fight and when specifically he will fight is unclear.
