ARLINGTON, Texas -- Texas Rangers left-hander Matt Harrison still hasn't decided what he's going to do about his back pain long term. He'll receive an epidural injection on Monday, but beyond that he's still undecided.

Harrison has spondylolisthesis, which causes displacement in the vertebrae. It's a condition that could be career-threatening.

"It's kind of put me in the position where either I deal with it or have the surgery and get it fused together and try to make it comeback from that," Harrison told reporters Friday. "It's going to be even tougher than it was the last time, but I'm willing to give it a try. I'm still trying to wrap my head around what's going on at this point in time and trying not to let it sink it that it may have been my last game."

Harrison, who is on the 15-day disabled list at this point, is dealing with pain in his leg. As for what he's going to do, that's a family decision and they'll discuss it soon.

"Obviously your health is most important, but I know there are guys who've come back before," Harrison said. "I'm going to give that a shot if I end up having it, but if I come back and things are the same or worse as they were before it's not worth the risk. It's really not worth me being 29 years old and not being able to walk."

Harrison has made six starts in the last two seasons, after starting at least 30 games in each of the 2011 and 2012 seasons. That earned him a five-year, $55 million contract prior to the 2013 season. He made two starts in April that year and then had two back surgeries and surgery to alleviate Thoracic Outlet Syndrome. Now, he's looking at possibly more surgeries.
