OXNARD, Calif. -- Two words ran through Morris Claiborne’s mind as pulling left tackle Tyron Smith approached him with a full head of steam.
“Holy crap,” Claiborne said.
Goliath got the best of this matchup. The 6-foot-5, 318-pound Smith knocked the 5-foot-11, 190-pound Claiborne a few yards out of bounds to spring DeMarco Murray for a big gain on the sweep.
There are precious few 300-plus-pound men on the planet who can cover 40 yards in less than 5 seconds. Smith is one of them, and that speed opens up a lot of possibilities for the Cowboys' perimeter running and screen games.
“When he’s coming with a full head of steam like that on us corners,” Claiborne said, “he’s hard to deal with.”
