Players using postseason to bolster World Cup case

The 2016 Stanley Cup playoffs have been a coming-out party for Robby Fabbri. Will he earn a roster spot on Team North America for the World Cup of Hockey? Andrew Dieb/Icon Sportswire

DALLAS -- One consistent thread that has accompanied the St. Louis Blues on their playoff run this spring has been the success of their young players. Fabbri was at it again on Sunday, assisting twice on goals that helped the Blues earn a split in Dallas and head home to St. Louis with home-ice advantage.

“It’s not [just] our team,” Blues coach Ken Hitchcock said after the game. “There’s so many young players that they’re stars every night. You look at the players [Saturday] in that Washington-Pittsburgh game -- that’s a bunch of young guys playing really well. It’s where our league’s at now.”

You can no doubt bet that those picking the teams are watching these playoff games closely, and there’s a group of players -- including Fabbri and Parayko for Team North America -- who are making a strong World Cup case with standout performances. Here’s a look at seven more:
