Weekend Predictions: UConn could lose

Well, college basketball gave us multiple upsets and thrillers this past week. Let's see if the chaos continues.

Here are my predictions for the weekend:

George Washington at No. 9 Virginia, 7 p.m. ET, Friday, ESPN3.com/WatchESPN: This is an interesting game. Mike Lonergan's GW squad is one of the top defensive units in the country, and Kethan Savage is an underrated wing. But Tony Bennett's squad is even better defensively, and it has a more balanced scoring attack. Plus, the Cavaliers are at home.

Prediction: Virginia 54, George Washington 50

Popcorn Level: 6 Bags

Dayton vs. No. 17 Connecticut (Puerto Rico Tip-Off), 2:30 p.m. ET, Friday, ESPN2: Archie Miller lost four players who accounted for nearly 34 points per game during last season's Elite Eight run, and it showed in his team's recent win over Texas A&M. But the Flyers won't be intimidated, especially on a neutral floor. Rodney Purvis gives UConn a boost, but it might take some time to work the NC State transfer into the mix. Watch for the upset here.

Prediction: Dayton 58, UConn 56

Popcorn Level: 7 Bags

Akron vs. Miami (Charleston Classic), 2:30 p.m. ET, Friday, ESPNU: Demetrius Treadwell Jr. has been suspended indefinitely by the university, but Akron should still be a contender for the MAC crown. Pat Forsythe and Kwan Cheatham Jr. gave the Zips 15 points apiece in a 20-point win over USC earlier this week. They're confident, but they're also facing a Miami team coming off a come-from-behind win over Florida. Angel Rodriguez, however, can't carry that load every night.

Prediction: Akron 67, Miami 66

Popcorn Level: 6 Bags

Boise State at No. 3 Wisconsin, 10 p.m. ET, Saturday, Big Ten Network: Anthony Drmic and Boise State could squeeze into the field of 68 with a strong season in the Mountain West. But that league is so weak that the Broncos won't have many chances to achieve quality wins in conference play, so this is big. But Nigel Hayes is a grown man now. Boise State can keep it close early, but the Badgers will pull away in the second half.

Prediction: Wisconsin 80, Boise State 70

Popcorn Level: 7 Bags

North Carolina Central at Creighton, 4 p.m. ET, Sunday, Fox Sports 1: LeVelle Moton's team took a tough loss in the early opener against North Carolina. Moton admitted his squad couldn't handle the environment. Well, it won't get much easier in Omaha, Nebraska, where thousands of fans helped Creighton come back and beat Oklahoma in its most recent game. Still, the Eagles' starters went 13-for-45 against the Tar Heels and can't get much worse than that.

Prediction: Creighton 67, NCCU 66
