Browns to practice in Tampa against Bucs in late August

Hue Jackson will take his first training camp on the road in August, as the Browns will practice for two days in Tampa Bay leading up to the preseason game between the teams on Aug. 26.

The practices were announced by new Bucs coach Dirk Koetter after the team's OTA practice on Thursday.

The Browns confirmed that they will practice in Tampa Bay on Aug. 23 and 24, then take Aug. 25 off before the game Saturday night. The Bucs also will practice for two days with the Jaguars prior to the teams' preseason game Aug. 20.

"Training camp's a long grind," Koetter told the media in Tampa. "It's great to go against other people and other looks and a good way to test where you're at. It's almost like you're having two practices at once -- your offense is practicing on one field, your defense on the other, instead of going against each other. I'm a big believer in seeing the different looks."

It's interesting timing for joint work because these practices can get testy. The Browns and Bills had some differences when the teams practiced last season in Rochester, and other teams have had fights during joint practices.

These are scheduled late in camp, before the "dress rehearsal" preseason game. They will be held early in the morning, but in the late-summer Florida heat -- conditions the Browns might not be accustomed to.
