Jamal Mayers joins Blackhawks front office

Former Chicago Blackhawks player Jamal Mayers has returned to the organization as community liaison, the team announced on Monday.

Mayers, a 15-year NHL player, was with the Blackhawks from 2011-13 and was part of their 2013 Stanley Cup championship team.

“We are proud to welcome Jamal back to the organization in this role,” Blackhawks president & CEO John McDonough said in a statement. “We envision him being a strong asset to the Blackhawks as we continue to focus on the growth of youth hockey. Jamal’s involvement in our local neighborhoods will help to further ingrain the Blackhawks brand into our community,”

Mayers retired as a player after the 2012-13 season and spent the last two years working as a television hockey analyst.
