EDMONTON, Alberta -- Here’s a quick look at the Chicago Blackhawks' 7-1 thrashing of the Edmonton Oilers on Saturday at Rexall Place.

How it happened: Complete and utter domination. The Blackhawks scored early and often against the Oilers. They put their first two shots on Ben Scrivens in the back of the net. Marian Hossa scored his first goal in 10 games and showed great patience at the side of the net to lift the puck past Scrivens. The top line, in general, was clicking -- Jonathan Toews scored his eighth and ninth goals of the season, and Brandon Saad added two assists. On the other side of the ice, Corey Crawford stopped 24 of 25 shots for his ninth win. Crawford was the surprise starter after Antti Raanta was scratched due to an “illness" at the last minute. Edmonton also saw a goaltender change, but for an entirely different reason. Scrivens was pulled in favor of Viktor Fasth early in the second after he allowed five goals on 13 shots. David Perron ruined Crawford’s shutout bid at the 8:04 mark of the third period, when he tipped a Justin Schultz point shot just past the goaltender's glove.

What it means: The win gives Chicago its first three-game win streak of the season. The loss extended Edmonton’s season-long Western Conference losing skid to 11 games (0-10-1). Patrick Kane scored the Blackhawks' seventh goal of the game on a feed from Kris Versteeg to extend his own four-game goal-scoring streak. Crawford also made his 10th consecutive start between the pipes.

Player of the game: Hossa. The forward finished the game with a team-high four-points and was a steady presence throughout the night on Chicago’s power play.

Stat of the game: Journeyman forward Dan Carcillo played in his 400th career NHL game. The pest has accumulated 46 goals and a whopping 1,183 penalty minutes for five teams in his nine-year career.

What’s next: The Blackhawks complete their western Canadian swing Sunday night against the Vancouver Canucks. It will be the third game of the team’s six-game circus road trip. Chicago doesn’t return home until Dec. 3 against the St. Louis Blues.
