Here’s a look at how some former recent Chicago Blackhawks are doing with their different teams:
Nick Leddy, defenseman, New York Islanders, traded October of 2014
The Blackhawks traded Leddy prior to this season because they needed to get under the salary cap. Leddy, 23, has adapted to a new team nicely for the Islanders. He has five goals, four assists, is a plus-7 and has averaged 19:28 of ice time in 19 games this season. He leads the Islanders with a 59.32 Corsi percentage.
Brandon Pirri, forward, Florida Panthers, traded March of 2014
The Blackhawks moved Pirri after he struggled to earn ice time last season. Pirri, 23, hasn’t played for the Panthers since Oct. 30 due to a concussion. He is expected to return soon. He was on a roll before suffering the injury, scoring goals in three consecutive games. He had also been a healthy scratch early in the season. He has three goals and is a plus-2 in four games this season.
Jimmy Hayes, forward, Florida Panthers, traded November of 2013
The Blackhawks traded Hayes after he didn’t fit the bill as a third-line winger early last season. Hayes, 25, was a healthy scratch early this season for the Panthers, but he has had better times as of late. He has scored in three of the last five games and has five points during that span. He has four goals, four assists and is a plus-5 in 11 games this season.
Dylan Olsen, defenseman, Florida Panthers, traded November of 2013
The Blackhawks traded Olsen as part of the deal to obtain Kris Versteeg. Olsen, 23, has found a permanent spot in the Panthers’ defense. He has played in 17 games this season and has averaged 16:01 of ice time. He has four assists and is a plus-1.
Ryan Stanton, defenseman, Vancouver Canucks, waived September of 2013
The Blackhawks were hoping to get Stanton through waivers, but the Canucks picked him up. Stanton, 25, hasn’t had a stellar season. He missed time early in the season with a lower-body injury and was a healthy scratch against the Anaheim Ducks on Thursday. He has one assist, is a minus-1 and averaged 15:11 of ice time in 10 games this season.
Ray Emery, goaltender, Philadelphia Flyers, unsigned after 2012-13 season
Emery was hoping to be the No. 1 goaltender when he left the Blackhawks. But Emery, 32, has continued to share the Flyers’ net with Steve Mason. Emery is 4-3-1 with a 3.22 goals-against average and .897 save percentage this season. He’s allowed nine goals in his last two starts.
Viktor Stalberg, forward, Nashville Predators, unsigned after 2012-13 season
The Blackhawks and Stalberg parted ways after winning the Stanley Cup in 2013. Stalberg, 28, was set to return from a lower-body injury earlier this month for the Predators, but suffered another injury while on a conditioning assignment in the AHL. He hasn’t played since Oct. 25. He has zero points in five games this season and has 18 points over 75 games the last two seasons.
Dave Bolland, forward, Florida Panthers, traded July of 2013
The Blackhawks traded Bolland during the NHL draft in 2013. Bolland, 28, was originally traded to the Toronto Maple Leafs and has since joined a number of other former ex-Blackhawks with the Panthers. He hasn’t played since Oct. 17 due to a lower-body injury. He has zero points in four games this season.
Michael Frolik, forward, Winnipeg Jets, traded July of 2013
The Blackhawks also traded Frolik during the draft in 2013. Frolik, 26, has been on a roll the last few weeks. He has three goals and two assists in the last five games. He hasn’t been at that pace since leaving the Blackhawks, but he’s still be a contributor for the Jets. He has four goals and five assists in 21 games this season and had 15 goals and 27 assists in 81 games last season. He averaging 15:15 of ice time this season.
Brandon Bollig, forward, Calgary Flames, traded June of 2014
The Blackhawks traded Bollig to give themselves some cap space prior to this season. Bollig, 27, hasn’t been getting major minutes for the Flames, but he’s consistently been in the lineup. He’s played in 20 games and averaged 9:05 of ice time. He has two assists and is a minus-3 on the season.
Sheldon Brookbank, defenseman, Ak Bars (KHL), unsigned after 2013-14 season
The Blackhawks didn’t resign Brookbank after last season. After being unable to stick with the Flames and the Chicago Wolves prior to the season, Brookbank, 34, decided to sign in Russia. He has one goal in six games this season.
Mike Kostka, defenseman, New York Rangers, waived February of 2014
Kostka, 28, finished last season with the Tampa Bay Lightning after being claimed off waivers from the Blackhawks. He signed with the Rangers in the offseason and has played in seven games for them. He is currently playing for the Hartford Wolf Pack in the AHL.
