Hawks prospect watch: Oloffson earns USHL honor

Here’s a look at how some of the Chicago Blackhawks’ prospects are doing throughout the world:

Fredrik Olofsson, forward, Chicago Steel (USHL), drafted 4th round in 2014

Olofsson was named the USHL’s forward of the week on Monday. He scored five goals last weekend. He had a hat trick in a 4-3 win over the Bloomington Thunder on Friday and added two more goals in a 4-3 loss to the Muskegon Lumberjacks on Saturday. He also recently committed to the University of Nebraska-Omaha. He is tied with fellow Blackhawks prospect Matheson Iacopelli for a league-leading seven goals and is tied for fifth with nine points.

Iacopelli added another goal to his season tally by scoring in a 4-3 win over the Chicago Steel on Saturday. He has seven goals and eight points on the season.

Michael Paliotta, defenseman, Vermont (NCAA), drafted 3rd round in 2011

Paliotta, a senior, had a goal and an assist and was a plus-2 in Vermont’s 3-0 win over Clarkson on Saturday. He’s tied for third in the nation with seven points. He has two goals and five assists in three games. Vermont is ranked No. 17 by USCHO.com.

Peter Regin, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), acquired from the New York Islanders in 2014

Regin showed he’s motivated to get back to the NHL. He had a goal and two assists in a win over the Adirondack Flames on Friday and scored the game-winning goal in overtime to lead the IceHogs to a 2-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday. He leads the IceHogs with four points, which includes two goals and two assists.

Ivan Nalimov, goaltender, Admiral Vladivostok (KHL), drafted 6th round in 2014

Nalimov had his finest game of the season on Sunday. He made 26 saves in a 1-0 shootout win over HC Sochi. He has a 2-4 record with a 3.10 goals-against average and .892 save percentage in nine games this season.

Carl Dahlstrom, defenseman, Linkoping (SHL), drafted 2nd round in 2013

Dahlstrom scored his first goal of the season in a 4-2 loss to Djurgardens IF on Saturday. He had a goal, four shots on goal and was a minus-1. He has one goal, four penalty minutes and is a minus-8 in 12 games this season.

Michael Leighton, goaltender, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), signed as a free agent in 2014

Leighton stopped all 28 shots he faced in a 1-0 shootout loss to the Toronto Marlies on Sunday. He has a 1.43 goals-against average and has made 48 saves on 51 shots for a .941 save percentage in two games this season.

Scott Darling, goaltender, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), signed as a free agent in 2014

Darling helped the IceHogs to two wins last week. He had 21 saves in a 4-2 win over the Adirondack Flames on Friday and 34 saves in a 2-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday. He has a 1.44 goals-against average and has made 55 saves on 58 shots for a .948 save percentage this season.

Anthony Louis, forward, Miami Ohio (NCAA), drafted 6th round in 2013

Louis, a sophomore, had two assists in Miami Ohio’s 5-1 win over Ohio State on Friday. He has four assists and is a plus-1 through four games. Miami Ohio is ranked No. 10 by USCHO.com.

Nick Schmaltz, forward, North Dakota (NCAA), drafted 1st round in 2014

Schmaltz, a freshman, had an assist in a 3-1 win over Colorado College on Friday and added two more assists in a 7-2 win on Saturday. He has one goal and three assists in four games. North Dakota is ranked No. 3 by USCHO.com.

Joakim Nordstrom, forward, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), drafted 3rd round in 2010

Nordstrom scored his team’s first goal in its 2-1 win over the Hamilton Bulldogs on Saturday. He has a goal and is a minus-1 on the season.

Klas Dahlbeck, defenseman, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), drafted 3rd round in 2011

Dahlbeck had a goal and five shots on goal in the IceHogs’ win over the Adirondack Flames on Saturday. He has one goal and one assist for the season.

Viktor Svedberg, defenseman, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), signed as a free agent in 2013

Svedberg scored a goal in the IceHogs’ win over the Adirondack Flames on Saturday. He has one point on the season.

TJ Brennan, defenseman, Rockford IceHogs (AHL), acquired from the New York Islanders in 2014

Brennan scored his first goal since joining the IceHogs. He had a goal and four shots on goal in a 4-2 win over the Adirondack Flames on Saturday. He has one goal and is a plus-1 in four games this season.
