CHICAGO -- Chicago Blackhawks defenseman Michal Rozsival will not play against the Calgary Flames on Wednesday because of an upper-body injury, coach Joel Quenneville said on Tuesday.

Rozsival, who has missed the first two games of the regular season, suffered the injury during the preseason. He practiced with his teammates for a second consecutive day on Tuesday. Quenneville said he was aiming for Rozsival to play against the Nashville Predators on Saturday.

"It's kind of like with any player," Quenneville said after practice at Johnny's IceHouse West on Tuesday. "When they're ready, they're ready. I think sometimes some guys we say are more than ready. We're generally always more than ready with about any situation. Playoffs we don't really discuss it. Sometimes they'll play. It's a long season. Whether you're old or young, let's make sure we correct it and it's not going to be an ongoing issue."

Rozsival reported Tuesday he is close to being ready to play in a game.

"I feel great," Rozsival said. "It was another good day on the ice with the team. I'm getting closer to be 100 percent, so I'm happy with the progress."

Blackhawks forward Marian Hossa did not practice on Tuesday. Quenneville said he was resting and would be fine to play on Wednesday.

Forward Kris Versteeg might begin skating again later in the week. He suffered a lower-body injury on Oct. 7 and was expected to miss about three weeks.
