Bears hold LT Jermon Bushrod out of first padded practice

BOURBONNAIS, Ill. -- The Chicago Bears held left tackle Jermon Bushrod (back) out of practice on Saturday, but cornerback Kyle Fuller (ankle) and defensive tackle Eddie Goldman (dehydration) were healthy enough to take part in the club’s first padded workout of training camp.

The Bears avoided any serious injuries on their first day in full pads, but right guard Kyle Long (bruised shoulder) and defensive linemen Ego Ferguson (leg cramp) and Will Sutton (ankle) did suffer minor setbacks, according to head coach John Fox.

“I thought the effort [in full pads] was really good,” Fox said. “It’s always sloppy the first day because they haven’t done it for a whole year, but the effort and intent were good. We’ll get better on the technique as we go.”

Fox excused tight end Dante Rosario due to personal reasons for the second straight day, but said Rosario is expected to rejoin the team in Bourbonnais on Saturday evening.

Fox told reporters that first-round pick Kevin White is “making progress” as he continues to recover from a shin injury. White remains on the PUP list.

Quarterback David Fales (non-football injury list) and nose tackle Terry Williams were also sidelined on Saturday.
