Jordan Mills limited in practice

LAKE FOREST, Ill. – Chicago Bears right tackle Jordan Mills returned to practice for the first time since injuring his left foot two weeks ago, the same foot that required offseason surgery on a fractured metatarsal in January.

Mills had been in-and-out of a walking boot since he hurt the foot, but he participated in selected individual drills on Wednesday, with the hope of being back to full-speed early next week.

"I feel great," Mills said. "I got back in and did a few individual drills with the offensive line and it's great to be back. I'm still part of the team, it just felt even more part of the team to be out there with my teammates and not be on the sidelines watching. Hopefully on Monday I'll get back out there with the team and go against the defense and everything like that."

Mills is expected to be held out Friday night in Seattle, but he could be ready for next Thursday's preseason finale versus the Cleveland Browns. Although the starters play sparingly in the fourth preseason contest, it should benefit Mills to experience live game action, however brief it may be, prior to the regular season opener against Buffalo on September 7.

"Yeah, I'd like to get in there [next week]," Mills said. "But if the trainers say I can't go, I can't go. If that happens, the first game I will go in is the first regular season game, and that's it. But if they say I can go, I will go."
