Bears add linebacker Sam Acho

The Chicago Bears continued to bolster the pass rush on Wednesday, signing former Arizona Cardinals linebacker Sam Acho to a one-year contract.

Terms of the deal weren’t disclosed.

A fifth-year veteran, Acho came into the NFL as a fourth-round pick in 2011 of the Cardinals out of Texas.

Bears general manager Ryan Pace recently said the team couldn’t have enough solid pass rushers. So the addition of Acho falls in line with Pace’s philosophy. Acho joins an already-packed depth chart at outside linebacker, which features several veterans such as Pernell McPhee, Jared Allen, Willie Young and Lamarr Houston.

Acho became the 11th player to sign with the Bears from another team. The Bears lead the division by far in players brought in from other teams in free agency.

Over four years in Arizona, Acho played in 51 games with 32 starts, posting 86 tackles, 13 sacks and 16 tackles for loss, in addition to forcing seven fumbles, recovering two more, and tallying three interceptions.
