Astros' Jose Altuve having a season for the ages

Jose Altuve just turned 26 years old, and, in all likelihood, he will get his 1,000th career hit sometime this season. So he’s been really good at his craft for a while. Altuve led the American League in hits in each of the last two seasons, and his next All-Star appearance will be his fourth.

But this season, Altuve has progressed from great to better than great, and he’s putting together one of the best seasons in the history of the Houston Astros’ franchise. At his current pace, Altuve will reach base more than 300 times this season. “He is becoming a crazy-good complete hitter now,” Houston manager A.J. Hinch wrote in a text message. “He is fun to watch.”
