Buffalo Bills sign offensive tackle Wayne Hunter

The Buffalo Bills signed free-agent offensive tackle Wayne Hunter on Wednesday, the team announced.

Hunter is a familiar face for Buffalo coach Rex Ryan. Hunter played four years with the New York Jets from 2008-11, and three of those four seasons were under Ryan.

Hunter had an up-and-down stint with the Jets and often was criticized for his inconsistent pass protection. New York traded Hunter to the St. Louis Rams in 2012, where he started four games. That was the last time Hunter, 33, played in the NFL. He has 25 career starts.

Buffalo recently hosted Hunter for a tryout during the final two days of the team's veteran minicamp. Hunter aims to provide depth at offensive tackle behind starters Cordy Glenn and Cyrus Kouandjio and backup Seantrel Henderson.
