How much does KG have left?

NEW YORK -- How much does Kevin Garnett have left in the tank?

It was easy to wonder after the 38-year-old veteran logged just nine minutes Friday night.

When asked why Garnett played so little, Brooklyn Nets coach Lionel Hollins responded: “It’s just a coach’s decision.”

Is Garnett healthy?

“Yes,” Hollins replied.

Over his past eight games, Garnett is averaging just 4.1 points and 4.5 rebounds on 45.7 percent shooting in 16.5 minutes.

In January, the Nets were outscored by 13.8 points per 100 possessions with Garnett on the court -- the worst mark of any regular rotation member on the team.

Mason Plumlee has been mostly able to maintain a high level of consistency, while Brook Lopez continues to round back into form with every game he plays.

Plumlee and Lopez are the future of the team -- assuming Lopez isn’t traded by the Feb. 19 deadline, of course.

Garnett hasn’t come off the bench since Jan. 27, 1996 -- the 38th game of his career.

Might it be better to make him a reserve? That’s something Hollins may have to weigh.

Nevertheless, Garnett has plenty of redeeming qualities. He’s a terrific leader inside the locker room, has settled into a supporting role without making so much as a peep and remains a smart-minded defender despite his loss of athleticism.

Garnett, who is in the final year of his contract ($12 million), has a no-trade clause. If this is indeed the end of his career, you’d love to see him be able to chase a second ring before it’s all over.

Still, you wonder how much Garnett can contribute. Maybe he just needs some rest.

Either way, make sure to enjoy KG while you still can.

Soak in his pregame rituals and on-court antics. His intensity. His willpower to win.

Because a player like him may never come along again.
