Sources: Pats' scouting chief to Buccaneers

New England Patriots director of college scouting Jon Robinson is leaving the team to join the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, according to league sources.

Robinson will be reunited with Buccaneers general manager Jason Licht, the former New England national scout who was a primary factor in hiring Robinson as a Patriots scout in 2002.

Monti Ossenfort, the Patriots' assistant director of college scouting, is a top candidate to fill the void in New England. The Patriots also hired Michael Lombardi as an assistant to the coaching staff this year, and he was among the select group of staffers present in the team's draft room, so he adds an additional perspective that was previously not in the mix.

Robinson has been with the Patriots since 2002, serving the past five years as director of college scouting. Prior to that, he served as a regional and area scout. His work was praised by Patriots director of player personnel Nick Caserio before this year's draft.

With Robinson headed to Tampa Bay, Buccaneers director of college scouting Eric Stokes will head to Miami as an assistant to GM Dennis Hickey, according to sources. Hickey and Stokes previously worked together in Tampa Bay.
