          Calvin Johnson won't play for Lions

          DETROIT -- Receiver Calvin Johnson will not play tonight for the Lions, the team announced.

          Johnson had hoped to play after missing last week's preseason game with a bruised knee. He warmed up on the field and ESPN's Josina Anderson tweeted: "Calvin seem to pul lup a tad on 1 of his routes in [warmups]. Got stretched after. Stafford came over. I asked if he's playing, shook his head no."

          Johnson would have represented a nice test for the Patriots.
