One of the curious aspects of the Patriots' 2011 draft was a sixth-round trade with the Eagles. The Patriots had the 193rd pick and the Eagles owned the 194th pick -- and decided to swap.

No other picks were part of the deal.

When Bill Belichick was asked about the curious trade at the end of the draft, he didn't exactly elaborate.

"We talked to the Eagles and we wanted to make the trade. They wanted to make it; we wanted to make it, so we made it," he said, before asking a reporter: "You good on that?"

The deal, as many suspected, was a result of two friends (Bill Belichick & Eagles coach Andy Reid) having a little fun during the draft. Reid explained it in a Sports Illustrated piece by Peter King.

Here is the snippet from King's piece:

"A salary-cap move!" Philly coach Andy Reid joked on Saturday night. The truth is, Reid and Belichick had made a deal with each other for 10 straight years (not restricted to the draft), and here it was, the sixth round, and they hadn't made one yet. So they got on the phone and Reid said, "Listen, our streak is in trouble." Here came the no-harm, no-foul deal. Both took linebackers whom the other team wouldn't have picked—Philly drafted Ohio State's Brian Rolle, and New England picked Markell Carter from Central Arkansas. Who said Reid and Belichick are always serious?

EXTRA POINT: As King notes in his "Monday Morning Quarterback" piece from May 8, there is no such streak between the Patriots and Eagles, but a good friendship remains between the coaches.
