Unrestricted free-agent defenseman Cody Franson said Tuesday that he's in discussions with the Boston Bruins -- along with five or six other teams -- on a possible contract.

During a radio interview with Team 1040 in Vancouver, Franson said he's gaining some interest but the process is moving slowly due to cap situations from some of the teams. The Bruins fall into that category with less than $5 million available against the cap.

After playing the last three seasons on one-year contracts, Franson is seeking a long-term deal. He earned $3.3 million during the 2014-2015 season.

"I'm sick of doing one-year deals, but we're open to all suggestions," Franson said during the interview.

The 27-year-old blueliner, who split last season between the Toronto Maple Leafs and the Nashville Predators, said he spoke with former Bruin and current Los Angeles Kings forward Milan Lucic about playing in Boston.

"Boston would be an interesting spot," Franson said. "It's obviously an awesome city and they've got a great organization and all those things that come with it. There are a handful of other teams too, and everything is just kind of slow rolling at the moment and we're taking it day by day."
