STATE COLLEGE, Pa. -- Is the world ready for two James Franklins?
Maybe not. But it got pretty close earlier this week when Comedy Central's Keegan-Michael Key, of "Key & Peele" fame, dressed up just like Franklin and mimicked the Penn State coach during a team meeting.
The impersonation is uncanny, and Key makes for a great caricature of the coach.
Key, a Penn State alum, is the Homecoming Grand Marshal this week. The comedian/actor has worked on MADtv and also headlines "Key & Peele," a comedy sketch show that's gone on for four seasons. He's referenced Penn State on his TV show before, too, with the fictional Penn State football player "Hingle McCringleberry."
Key, 44, is just one year older than Franklin. But when a dressed-up Key walked through the meeting doors, it didn't take long for players to figure out who he was. Most stood up and pointed, but Key just hushed them.
"Hey guys!" he yelled. "I don't know why you're acting like that. We got to settle down during this meeting here, OK?"
If you think these two look alike, wait until you see @KeeganMKey's shot at leading a @coachjfranklin-esque team mtg pic.twitter.com/ScUEZY8umN
