Draft snapshot: How B1G East teams fared last 5 years

We're now less than 12 hours from the 2015 NFL draft, so we thought this would be an ideal time to look back on how past drafts shaped up for the Big Ten.

We broke down the last five classes and how each B1G team fared, from how many picks they produced to what states they came from and what it all means moving forward. We'll cover the Big Ten West later in the morning but, for now, here's a closer look at the Big Ten East:

Indiana Hoosiers

Draft picks produced (2010-2014): 6

Where the picks are from: Ohio (3), Indiana (2), Florida (1)

First-round picks: 0

Best position: Wide receiver, 2 selections

Highest pick: WR Cody Latimer (2nd round, 56th overall), 2014

Moving forward: Tevin Coleman wasn't even born the last time an Indiana running back was taken (outside of the supplemental draft). The last was Vaughn Dunbar in 1992; Coleman was born in 1993. As ESPN's sixth-best back in the draft, Coleman sure seems poised to break that drought.

Maryland Terrapins

Draft picks produced: 6

Where the picks are from: Virginia (2), Connecticut (1), Florida (1), Maryland (1), Pennsylvania (1)

First-round picks: 0

Best position: Wide receiver/defensive back, 2 picks apiece

Highest pick: WR Torrey Smith (2nd round, 58th overall), 2011

Moving forward: If Stefon Diggs' No. 109 ranking holds up, he would become the Terps' highest offensive draft pick since Smith in 2011.

Michigan Wolverines

Draft picks produced: 13

Where the picks are from: Michigan (3), Florida (2), Illinois (2), Arizona (1), California (1), Indiana (1), Ohio (1), South Carolina (1), Washington (1)

First-round picks: 2

Best position: Offensive line, 5 selections

Highest pick: OT Taylor Lewan (1st round, 11th overall), 2014

Moving forward: Michigan has had between two and three players selected in each of the last five drafts. Three players – Devin Funchess, Jake Ryan, Frank Clark – are expected to be taken this year.

Michigan State Spartans

Draft picks produced: 13

Where the picks are from: Michigan (6), Ohio (5), Florida (1), Georgia (1)

First-round picks: 1

Best position: Defensive back, 4 selections

Highest pick: CB Darqueze Dennard (1st round, 24th overall), 2014

Moving forward: The Spartans have produced a combined four draft picks in the last two years, but five are projected to go in this draft.

Ohio State Buckeyes

Draft picks produced: 22

Where the picks are from: Ohio (13), Florida (4), Michigan (2), Georgia (2), New York (1)

First-round picks: 3

Best position: Linebacker/defensive back, 6 selections apiece

Highest pick: LB Ryan Shazier (1st round, 15th overall), 2014

Moving forward: The Buckeyes have not had a tight end drafted in the last five years, but Jeff Heuerman should put an end to that in the coming days. He's ranked No. 104 overall.

Penn State Nittany Lions

Draft picks produced: 18

Where the picks are from: Pennsylvania (7), New Jersey (3), New York (3), Delaware (1), Louisiana (1), Maryland (1), Michigan (1), Virginia (1)

First-round picks: 1

Best position: Linebacker, 6 selections

Highest pick: DT Jared Odrick (1st round, 28th overall), 2010

Moving forward: There are 256 picks in this year's draft, and five Lions are ranked within ESPN's top 256 players. If those five players are drafted, it'll be the most selections Penn State's had since 2010.

Rutgers Scarlet Knights

Draft picks produced: 11

Where the picks are from: New Jersey (6), Florida (2), Connecticut (1), Delaware (1), New York (1)

First-round picks: 2

Best position: Defensive back, 4 selections

Highest pick: OT Anthony Davis (1st round, 11th overall), 2010

Moving forward: Rutgers didn't have any players drafted in 2014 but, in 2012 and 2013, the first player off the board went at No. 83 overall – both times. And tight end Tyler Kroft is ranked as the 76th best player in this year's draft.
