KU signs third-tier media deal with ESPN

Kansas will have its spring game and one football game broadcast on ESPN3 as part of an agreement with ESPN.

The seven-year deal includes at least 70 live events annually, which a release called "one of the largest deals the multiscreen network has signed to date."

The third-tier rights deal is in conjunction with a previous deal between Kansas and Time Warner Cable that included 50 live events that will be broadcast locally on television. Those events will be broadcast outside of the region via ESPN3. The online network reaches 85 million homes and can be viewed online at WatchESPN.com, the WatchESPN app, ESPN on XBox Live and Apple TV.

"From the start of this process, our goals were to saturate the Kansas City market, distribute Kansas programming throughout the state and make our live events available nationally,” Kansas AD Sheahon Zenger said in a release. "We are meeting these goals through agreements like these with ESPN and Time Warner Cable. Both are significant steps for Kansas Athletics and we are excited about the future for all Jayhawk fans -- wherever they may be watching."

As someone who has used both the WatchESPN app and the XBox Live app, fans won't be disappointed with the quality of these broadcasts.
