Baylor's offensive line leads Big 12's Week 5 unsung heroes

Each Saturday, some players are overshadowed by teammates putting in a critical performance while others end up getting the headlines. We'll aim to shine a light on those overlooked contributors each week in Big 12's unsung heroes.

Here's a look at one unsung hero for each team in Week 5:

Baylor's offensive line: The group has been getting it done all season and stands as the driving force behind Baylor's push for a third straight Big 12 title. On Saturday, Spencer Drango, Kyle Fuller, Jarell Broxton, Pat Colbert and Blake Muir paved the way for 368 rushing yards, with running backs averaging 7.1 yards per carry, in Baylor's 63-35 win over Texas Tech. The Bears finished with 8.9 yards per play, 680 total yards and 4.2 points per drive in the win.

Iowa State WR Allen Lazard: The sophomore led Iowa State with six receptions for 75 yards and one touchdown in Iowa State's 38-13 win over Kansas. His 9-yard touchdown just before halftime helped give the Cyclones a comfortable 17-0 cushion heading into the locker room and four of his six receptions resulted in first downs.

Kansas LB Marcquis Roberts: The South Carolina transfer had an 83-yard interception return for a touchdown in Kansas' 38-13 loss to Iowa State. Roberts finished with six tackles (five solo) including one tackle for loss and one sack.

Kansas State QB Joe Hubener: The sophomore returned to the game to lead a fourth-quarter touchdown drive after being sidelined following a first-quarter hit. Hubener's 5-yard touchdown run gave the Wildcats the 34-33 lead with 3:01 left before the Cowboys rallied to win.

Oklahoma LB Jordan Evans: The Sooners defense was full of star-studded performances, including Eric Striker's, but Evans had one of his best showings of the season in Oklahoma's 44-24 win over West Virginia. The junior finished with nine tackles (seven solo) including 2.5 tackles for loss, one sack and one 41-yard fumble return for a touchdown. Evans joins Striker and Dominique Alexander to give Oklahoma one of the Big 12's top linebacking corps.

Oklahoma State WR Marcell Ateman: The junior receiver was clutch for the Cowboys in Oklahoma State's 36-34 win over Kansas State. He finished with six receptions for 101 yards and one touchdown with all six receptions resulting in a first down. Three of his six receptions came in the final quarter, including a key 19-yard reception on fourth-and-8 during the game-winning drive.

Texas RB D'Onta Foreman: The Longhorns got embarrassed, 50-7, but might find solace in finding a primary running back. Foreman had 18 carries for 112 yards, averaging 6.2 yards per carry in the loss. Foreman had four carries of 10 yards or more as one of the few bright spots against TCU.

TCU S Derrick Kindred: The senior set the tone in TCU's 50-7 win over Texas. His teeth-rattling hit on Longhorn receiver Daje Johnson forced a fumble on Texas' first possession and sparked the Horned Frogs' 30-point first quarter. Kindred finished with seven tackles (five solo) including one tackle for loss along with the forced fumble.

Texas Tech WR Zach Austin: The sophomore entered the game searching for his first college catch. He left AT&T Stadium as the Red Raiders' leading receiver in a 63-35 loss to Baylor. Austin had eight receptions for 110 yards and one touchdown with six of his receptions resulting in a first down.

West Virginia S Karl Joseph: The senior made plenty of plays in West Virginia's 44-24 loss to Oklahoma. Joseph had five tackles including a tackle for loss, one sack and one interception. He also had a huge hit on Oklahoma's Dede Westbrook along the sideline.
