Jack Trice Stadium renovation on track for Iowa State opener

Jack Trice Stadium will have a different look this fall. And, perhaps, a louder sound.

The $60 million stadium project, most of which has gone to bowl in the south end zone, remains on track to be completed in phases by the end of August, in time for Iowa State's Sept. 5 home opener against Northern Iowa.

"Everybody's excited," said Chris Jorgensen, the school's associate athletic director in charge of facilities. "The south end zone project is something that has been discussed for 25 years. So, to finally see that we're less than 100 days from seeing it in action ... everybody is excited to see that."

When it's complete, Iowa State will boast the third-largest stadium in the Big 12, with a capacity of roughly 61,000. The Cyclones are hopeful an enclosed stadium and added capacity will enhance their home-field advantage.
