Big 12 recruiting scorecard

There were plenty of pledges across the Big 12 region this week, and recruiting classes are really starting to take shape. Here's a look at the latest on the Big 12 recruiting trail.

BAYLOR

Total commits: 12

ESPN 300 commits: 6

The latest: Grayland Arnold is picking up more and more interest from major programs but says he's still solid with Baylor. The athlete from Kountze, Texas, is expected to play cornerback and return kicks for the Bears but also wants a little action at slot receiver. Texas is pushing to get him on campus, and Oklahoma State and Nebraska have offered, but the Bears don't appear to be in much danger of losing him.

IOWA STATE

Total commits: 3

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The Cyclones picked up a instant-impact commitment from junior college CB Kamal Hardy on Friday. Hardy hails from the powerhouse St. Thomas Aquinas program in Florida and turned down offers from Indiana, Ohio, Tulsa and North Texas. They did lose a major in-state target, though, when four-star OG Jake Heinrich picked Arkansas over the weekend.

KANSAS

Total commits: 7

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The Jayhawks locked up a new pledge on July 4 from Oklahoma CB Kyle Mayberry, who turned down nine other FBS offers (including Kansas State) to choose KU. The speedy corner allowed just three receptions last year and also spent some time playing quarterback at Booker T. Washington High.

KANSAS STATE

Total commits: 4

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: K-State found a potential steal out of the state of North Carolina in WR Corey Sutton, who committed over the weekend. The 6-foot-2, 200-pound wideout with 4.4 speed was offered at a KSU summer camp and eventually chose the Wildcats over interest from Virginia Tech and offers from App State, Colorado State and Georgia Southern.

OKLAHOMA

Total commits: 7

ESPN 300 commits: 1

The latest: The Sooners missed on two pretty significant ESPN 300 targets up front last week: offensive guard Parker Boudreaux and defensive tackle Mike Williams. Boudreaux picked Notre Dame with this crazy video and was once considered a Sooner lean by some, while Williams ended up announcing his pledge to Stanford on Saturday.

OKLAHOMA STATE

Total commits: 11

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The Pokes finished off a productive June with a commitment from OT Dylan Galloway, a standout at one of the best high school programs in the DFW area, Coppell High. Galloway didn't have many offers at the time of his pledge -- UTSA, Arkansas State and Nevada -- but should see more attention now. In all, OSU picked up five commitments in June.

TCU

Total commits: 14

ESPN 300 commits: 5

The latest: The Horned Frogs remain in the hunt for ESPN 300 DE Xavier Kelly, who trimmed down his list of options to eight last week. TCU made the cut along with Kansas State, Alabama, Florida State, Georgia, Michigan, Clemson and Oregon. The former KSU commit wants to wait until January to make his pledge, so getting him in on an official visit would be a crucial step for Gary Patterson's staff.

TEXAS

Total commits: 6

ESPN 300 commits: 2

The latest: With Jack Stoll off the board after committing to Nebraska, Texas is still hunting for a tight end for its 2016 class. Keep an eye on three-star Louisiana tight end Peyton Aucoin, who's expected to visit Austin again in the near future. Texas is also trying to push for LSU commit Jamal Pettigrew and could try to flip Donte Coleman from Texas Tech.

TEXAS TECH

Total commits: 19

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: We'll get a better sense of what the Red Raiders have at quarterback this week when Jett Duffey competes at the Elite 11 finals in Oregon. The three-star recruit, who was a sleeper find for Kliff Kingsbury, thrived at two Elite 11 regional events as well as the Elite 11 semifinals. His stock could significantly rise this week.

WEST VIRGINIA

Total commits: 15

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: West Virginia's running back stable has an awfully bright future after locking up two studs in the 2016 class. In addition to four-star Martell Pettaway, coach Dana Holgorsen picked up a commitment on July 4 from three-star RB Kennedy McKoy out of North Carolina. He chose WVU over UNC, NC State, Louisville and Virginia.
