Big 12 recruiting scorecard

There were plenty of pledges across the Big 12 region this week, and recruiting classes are really starting to take shape. Here's a look at the latest on the Big 12 recruiting trail.

BAYLOR

Total commits: 12

ESPN 300 commits: 6

The latest: The Bears had a great week, landing three commitments in the span of 24 hours. Class of 2016 linebacker DeOnte Williams picked Baylor over Oklahoma, TCU, Texas Tech, Missouri and others. Baylor also landed a pair of 2017 prospects in quarterback Kellen Mond and receiver Hezekiah Jones.

IOWA STATE

Total commits: 2

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: Minneola (Florida) Lake Minneola safety Deon Edwards received an offer from the Cyclones last week. Arkansas, Indiana, Louisville, Missouri and South Carolina are among the other offers for Edwards.

KANSAS

Total commits: 7

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The Jayhawks landed their first defensive back in the Class of 2016 with a commitment from Round Rock (Texas) Cedar Ridge cornerback Ian Peterson. Wisconsin, Colorado and SMU are among the schools who have offered Peterson.

KANSAS STATE

Total commits: 3

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: K-State is hoping it found a hidden gem in Georgia. Kennesaw (Georgia) North Cobb receiver D.J. Renney picked the Wildcats over East Tennessee State and Chattanooga. KSU’s pursuit of Renney is yet another example of Bill Snyder's desire to pursue the players who fit his program, regardless of their stars, hype or recruiting attention.

OKLAHOMA

Total commits: 7

ESPN 300 commits: 1

The latest: Oklahoma received some good news on the recruiting trail, landing among the Top 5 schools of junior college offensive lineman Tate Leavitt and ESPN300 running back Devwah Whaley. The Sooners are hitting the junior college ranks hard this cycle with three junior college commitments -- offensive tackle Quinn Mittermeier, cornerback Maurice Chandler and receiver Ryan Parker -- on the pledge list.

OKLAHOMA STATE

Total commits: 10

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: The Cowboys continue to add to their commit list with Knoxville (Tennessee) Karns receiver Devin Harper and Calgary (Alberta, Canada) Centennial linebacker Amen Ogbongbemiga. The Cowboys are hoping to capitalize on good family genes with Ogbongbemiga, who is Emmanual Ogbah's cousin.

TCU

Total commits: 14

ESPN 300 commits: 5

The latest: The Horned Frogs commitment list jumped to 14 with a pledge from Mesquite (Texas) Horn defensive end Gary Overshown. The three-star defensive end picked the Horned Frogs over Colorado State, Minnesota, Iowa and others. At 6-foot-5, 210 pounds, Overshown should have plenty of room to grow and develop once he enters the program.

TEXAS

Total commits: 6

ESPN 300 commits: 2

The latest: Texas offered 2017 cornerback William Poole. The Atlanta (Georgia) Hapeville Charter prospect will be one of the highly regarded defensive backs in the nation with offers from Alabama, Clemson, LSU, Michigan, UCLA and others. The Longhorns also made Whaley's top five schools alongside Oklahoma.

TEXAS TECH

Total commits: 19

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: With 19 commitments for 2016, the Red Raiders have the luxury of putting added focus on 2017, including Lakeland (Florida) Lakeland running back Anthony Davis, who reportedly earned a Tech offer last week. Auburn, Clemson, Ohio State, Florida State and Florida are among the other teams who have offered the potentially elite running back.

WEST VIRGINIA

Total commits: 14

ESPN 300 commits: 0

The latest: Dana Holgorsen's program had a stellar week on the recruiting trail, landing pledges from Martell Pettaway and Adam Hensley. Pettaway is a four-star running back prospect from Michigan who spurned offers from Michigan State and Cincinnati. Hensley is a linebacker who picked WVU over Illinois, Ohio and others.
