AFC North Q&A: Which Ravens free-agent acquisition will make biggest impact?

Today's question: Which of these free-agent additions do you expect to make the biggest impact for the Baltimore Ravens: safety Kendrick Lewis, cornerback Kyle Arrington or backup quarterback Matt Schaub?

Jeremy Fowler, Pittsburgh Steelers: Lewis will make the biggest impact. He fits the Ravens’ identity the best. He's a tough player who offsets his lack of speed (recorded a 4.73-second 40 time) with run support, good hitting ability and ballhawk skills. He has recorded nine interceptions and five forced fumbles in five seasons. Lewis is durable, too. He has started 66 of 69 games played. Arrington is a smart pickup and has started games for the New England Patriots, but it’s interesting to me that New England wouldn't pay what the Ravens did (three years, $7 million) despite its obvious need for cornerback help after the departure of Darrelle Revis. Arrington could have a productive season. Lewis is a better fit. And, no, Schaub is not playing. Joe Flacco hasn't missed a game in seven regular seasons.

Coley Harvey, Cincinnati Bengals: I’ll go with Arrington. The former undrafted free agent still has a few years left in his career, and he certainly has ability remaining even if the Patriots weren’t keen on keeping him around. His tackle numbers were down in 2014, but he also missed a couple of games for the first time since his rookie year in 2009. Baltimore needs help in its secondary, and Arrington’s addition ought to be noticeable. Lewis also figures to stand out, but it’s hard seeing Schaub’s impact being tangible right now. Naturally, the only way he gets playing time is if Flacco gets injured. There are a lot of hypotheticals there.

Pat McManamon, Cleveland Browns: Schaub is an old 33. He’s a guy who couldn't even hold the fort for one season in Oakland while Derek Carr grew. The Raiders started Carr. Given that, the Ravens had better hope Flacco stays healthy. Arrington is a nickelback who was benched during the Super Bowl. Lewis is a safety who led the Texans in tackles last season. He did not do much for Kansas City prior, so no miracles should be expected. But given the three options, and given that Lewis is a smart player who will start, he gets the nod.
