Dennis Pitta present at start of Ravens' offseason workout program

Baltimore Ravens tight end Dennis Pitta was present at the start of the Ravens' offseason workout program, according to a video filmed Monday by the team.

It's unknown how much Pitta participated, but it appeared he did some work in the weight room. This doesn't come as a major surprise because Pitta was around the Ravens' facility last year after hip surgery sidelined him for a second consecutive season.

Phase 1 of the offseason workout program is mainly limited to work in the classroom and weight room. Workouts are not open to the media.

Team officials said Pitta has fully recovered and the decision is between Pitta and his doctors. The Ravens might not have an answer on Pitta's status until the summer.

"I'm praying that Dennis comes back," owner Steve Bisciotti said earlier this month.

Tight end has become a position of need because of Pitta's uncertain future and Owen Daniels' departure in free agency. The only healthy and experienced tight ends on the Ravens' roster are Crockett Gillmore and Phillip Supernaw, both of whom have a combined one NFL start.

The Ravens could sign a veteran free agent after the draft like Zach Miller or trade for one like Detroit's Brandon Pettigrew.
