Chandler Jones needs to buy some shorts

TEMPE, Ariz. -- Learning the Arizona Cardinals' playbook may be the least of Chandler Jones' worries as he adapts to his new home in the desert.

The Cardinals' new outside linebacker, whom they traded for in March, still needs to adjust his wardrobe for his new warm-weather climate. At a recent golf tournament benefitting teammate Calais Campbell's foundation, Jones showed up in jeans -- and caught flack for it from teammates.

“(It’s) a lot different from Boston weather for sure,” said the former New England Patriot. “Everyone’s making fun of me because I have jeans on.

“I have to change my wardrobe a little bit and go shopping, but I’m enjoying it.”

He may want to get on that.

The average annual high temperature in Phoenix is 86.7 degrees, according to usclimatedata.com. In Boston, it’s 58.7 degrees. Boston, on average, has 2,617 hours of sunshine annually, whereas Phoenix has 3,832 hours.

But the biggest difference will be the winters. Boston averages 44 inches of snowfall a year. Phoenix? Zero.

"I am loving it," Jones said. "I don’t think I ever wore shorts in Boston."
