Poll result: Manti Te'o was a good choice

Now that he is a member of the AFC West, it seems the opinion of Manti Te'o has changed.

The polarizing inside linebacker from Notre Dame was taken by the San Diego Chargers in the second round with the No. 38 overall pick. He was expected to be a first-round pick even after he played poorly in the national title game against Alabama, a bizarre hoax involving a fake dead girlfriend and a slow 40-yard dash time at the NFL combine.

Prior to those issues, Te’o was considered a sure top-10 pick. The Chargers expect him to start right away.

We asked readers if they thought Te’o was a worthwhile selection for San Diego. In an overwhelming vote, as of 12:30 p.m. Wednesday, 66 percent of the voters believe Te’o was a good pick by the Chargers, while 34 percent didn’t.

This result differs from a pre-draft poll we had about Te’o. We asked readers if they would be comfortable if their favorite team drafted the Notre Dame linebacker. Fifty-three percent voted "no," while 47 percent voted "yes."

It seems because of the fact that San Diego got Te’o in the second round, fans think it was a good deal. I agree. Taking Te’o in the second round is fairly risk free. Thanks to everyone who played along.
