Tom Brady says Timmy Jernigan poked him in eye

The Baltimore Ravens left a lasting mark on New England Patriots quarterback Tom Brady. All you have to do is look at his face.

Brady's right eye remains bloodshot red five days after the AFC divisional playoff game. He said it's the result of getting poked by Ravens defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan.

"I was arguing with that guy and then he poked me in the eye, and I was trying to yell at the ref. I said, 'He just poked me in the eye!,'" Brady said Thursday. "He obviously didn't see it."

According to ESPN Patriots reporter Mike Reiss, the eye poke came after Brady was sacked on third-and-16 in the second quarter (10:55 remaining), and Jernigan reached his hand into Brady's helmet as players from both teams were jawing at each other.

Asked if it was like an old wrestling move, Brady said, "It's a good move, the eye gouge. You can't even do that in professional wrestling."

The Patriots advanced to the AFC Championship Game against the Indianapolis Colts by defeating the Ravens, 35-31, last Saturday.
