No one is talking about Ravens WR Torrey Smith's injury

BALTIMORE -- Observed and heard in the locker room after the Baltimore Ravens' 34-33 loss to the San Diego Chargers:

Injuries at wide receiver: Wide receiver Torrey Smith didn't play in the Ravens' last series and was favoring his right knee in the locker room. "That's something that coach [John Harbaugh] and I will have to address," Smith said. "I don't know when I'm supposed to be going and and when I am not supposed to be going. I'll let Coach handle it." Harbaugh declined to update Smith's injury. This is a tough injury because not only has Smith become their top receiver, but Marlon Brown suffered a concussion in the first half.

Upset at penalty: Harbaugh questioned the pass-interference penalty in the end zone on Ravens cornerback Anthony Levine in the game's final minute. It led to the Chargers' winning score. "My understanding is both players -- the offensive and defensive players -- are supposed to have an opportunity to make a play on the ball. I saw a corner trying to make a play on the ball with a forearm in his chest and clavicle area being held down, not allowed to jump for the ball. That's disappointing in that situation. I think a corner should be given a chance to defend. I know he wasn't given a chance to defend on that play. That's not fair to the player."

Questionable play call: With 2:32 left in the game, the Ravens decided to throw the ball on third-and-4 instead of running it. The Chargers couldn't stop the clock because they had used all their timeouts, and the Ravens ran only five seconds off the clock after Joe Flacco's incomplete pass. Did the Ravens think about running the ball? "That was a consideration," Harbaugh said. "Yes, we were trying to get the first down. We wanted to be aggressive and try to get the first down and try to close the game out, if we could."
