Joe Flacco not present at start of practice

OWINGS MILLS, Md. -- Baltimore Ravens quarterback Joe Flacco was surprisingly absent during the media viewing of Wednesday's practice.

Reporters are allowed to watch the first 30 minutes of practice. There was no reason given for Flacco not being present at the start of practice. Ravens coach John Harbaugh will speak to the media following practice, and Flacco is scheduled to meet with reporters as well.

Flacco has never missed a start in his NFL career and has the third-longest active consecutive start streak for NFL quarterbacks. His 98 starts trails Eli Manning (153) and Philip Rivers (130).

It's strange that Flacco wasn't present given the extra rest from playing a Thursday night game. Plus, the Steelers didn't have a sack or a quarterback hit on Flacco last week.

Cornerbacks Lardarius Webb (back) and Asa Jackson (concussion) both were on the field for Wednesday's practice. In addition to Flacco, left tackle Eugene Monroe and defensive tackle Timmy Jernigan were absent.
