Suggs looking to play with torn biceps

Terrell Suggs shocked the football world when he missed only six games after tearing his Achilles tendon this offseason. Coming back from his latest injury wouldn't be considered as miraculous.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reported Suggs suffered a torn biceps late in the fourth quarter in Sunday's 23-20 loss to the Steelers. This injury is not necessarily a season-ending one. In fact, many players don't miss any games.

Dolphins linebacker Karlos Dansby has been playing with a torn biceps this season. He has worn a giant brace on his left arm that allows him to play but severely limits his range of motion.

Washington defensive ends Andre Carter and Phillip Daniels played with torn biceps in 2009.

Suggs addressed the injury on Twitter on Monday night:

The fact that Suggs is seeking a second opinion suggests the first opinion wasn't going to allow him to play. Ravens coach John Harbaugh told reporters Monday that he was "encouraged" that it wasn't a long-term injury for Suggs. "We’ll just have to see," Harbaugh said. "If I knew that for sure or could say it for sure, I would. I just can’t right now. But, we have some encouragement there.”

There's no question Suggs will play if he is cleared to do so. He has played through pain before. Suggs had two sacks in the AFC Championship Game against Pittsburgh four years ago despite wearing a shoulder harness. Of course, the key for Suggs is getting cleared to play.
