Stevan Ridley's first stop: Miami

It was pointed out over the weekend that free-agent running back Stevan Ridley was scheduled to take his first visits in free agency this week, and now we know more details about the first one. As ESPN.com NFL Nation Dolphins reporter James Walker reported Tuesday morning, it's with Miami.

Should Ridley wind up with the Dolphins, he'd team with starter Lamar Miller and a potential draft pick. That's the likely scenario for Ridley anywhere he lands in 2015, because it's unlikely a team will clear a path for him to be a true No. 1 back, as he's coming off an injury.

The Dolphins know Ridley well from having faced him six times as a primary ball-carrier over the past four years.

Ridley's best performance against Miami came in Week 8 of the 2013 season when he totaled 79 yards on 14 carries, with one touchdown.

With Ridley visiting Miami, and veteran offensive lineman Dan Connolly set to visit the Tampa Bay Buccaneers on Thursday, the needle is moving a bit this week on two of the New England Patriots' top remaining free agents.
